1. 如果whether和that从句并列,那么补上省略的部分原句为:Corporations will soon be required to report to the government whether they have the necessary reserves to pay the pension benefits earned by their employees and required to report to the government that the information be published...意思变化

还有Jubel的说法是对的, 即whether从句本身是information, 这样的结构使得原文的意思更清楚, A中的information就不是很明确.

同位语好像是ETS很喜欢的一种形式, 做题时如果看到,要仔细分析,很可能就是对的.

2. 重点在as和like. 此句的意思是houses和businesses一样的经营, 所以用as, E的单数不搭配. Being在GMAT中绝大多数是错的, 因为是wordy, 但是GMAT中也有being不错的时候, 我就见过多次在不划线的部分用being.  这里用being实际上是对的, distinction后面的部分修饰distinction, 意思是与众不同之处在于...如果没有being, 就变成了住宅的与众不同之处, distinction修饰dwellings. 意思大为不同.

但是意思是不同的. A中of后是distinction的内容, 解释了这个distinction是什么, 没有being, 意思就变成了:house有住宅的distinction.

这是两个非常经典的gmat的语法考题，比较象机考中的难题应该引起大家的高度关注。
我来说说第一题的解题思路：
（1）从并列入手，可以扔掉b/e;
（2）这个时候不要犹豫马上开始比较选项，a/c比较，打死你都不会选Ｃ；
（3）这时可以比较a/d;a是很好的并列结构，我们必须比较意思。把句子补全:Corporations will soon be required to report to the government whether they have the necessary reserves to pay the pension benefits earned by their employees and required to report to the government that the information be published...形式上是比较并列的，但是从意思上讲没法讲通。the information 有些莫名其妙。最后就选D.

2、我先说解题思路：
（1）发现没有动词和并列，但是有单复数问题，扔掉bce.
（2）比较a/d,d中的that 指代distinction，不但后面的as dwellings说不同，而且that在定语从句中根本不做任何成分。so,a.
下面我分析一下A:
Cooperative apartment houses have the peculiar distinction of being dwellings that must also operate as businesses.

这句让大家看了以后就想扔掉的话是对的。它是两句话的合并。
（1）Cooperative apartment houses have the peculiar distinction 。
（2）Cooperative apartment houses are dwellings that must also operate as businesses.
being在这里的作用是使得dwelling这个词更加明确。
