To all Duke class 2010 and potential future applicants to Duke MBA: Here is the chance to meet 70 current Duke MBAs (class 09) in Beijing! First, ~Five volunteers needed on May 9th (Friday), 11:30am-6pm. Event: visit a village together with 30 MBA students and do some casual translations for a couple of hours. Transportation (bus) and lunch will be provided. If interested, please send me email wangjlus AT yahoo DOT com . Second, There are also social opportunities during May 6th, 8th and 9th for having dinners/drinks with 35 MBA students. Feel free to send me emails for time/location. Similar events for another group of ~35 MBAs, but I don't know the dates yet. These are great opportunities for networking, and learning MBA life in general and Fuqua in particular. Some current Chinese first year students as well as some alumni will also be there. The backgrounds: Every spring many Duke students take a special course, Global Academic Travel Experience (GATE). Students spend 6 weeks studying a specific country/region and then spend ~10 days visiting the country/region. http://www.fuqua.duke.edu/internationalcenter/gate/ The course is very popular, and of course, China is the most popular choice for destination. This year there are two teams, 70 in total, going to China (there is another team going to Southeast Asia, which includes China). Understandably, none of these 70 students is native Chinese :-). |
