You are right. There are around 15 Chinese this year,including people from Taiwan. The internship searching is still going on and one third of us so far received offer. Two got a banking job. I'd like to say that in the down market, ability plus luck is still the key to find a job.

hi solartop, can you advise a little bit more specific, which bank and what position? how about other chinese first-year students and second-years?

Excited to meet Rice people here!

I am a final-round applicant and just received the interview invitation yesterday. I actually think the school is quick given one of my recommender did not submit his evaluation until last week...

I am now struggling about which one to take, the phone interview or on-campus one? I am twelve-hour drive from Houston.

Also for those in Houston now, could you suggest any lodging options for a small budget..And where to hang out in the city and its vicinity? I am thinking to take my other half if going for the on-campus interview...

Of coz ...what questions to prepare?

本人打算申请2009年美国的MBA，请大家看看我的基本情况是否能申请rice。

G/T成绩：G690，作文只有4。T正要开始准备，估计100左右吧。

学科背景：本科学历，专业为会计学，毕业于北京一家普通高校，大学GPA我还没换算，平均有85分吧。

工作背景：任职于国内一家大型国有能源企业做会计，至申请时，已经工作4年。我们公司在广大亚非拉地区有多个办事处，我主要负责其中的某一办事处所有的财务核算工作。

计划：读完书后回国，还是会进入能源行业工作。

因为rice位于休斯敦，著名的能源城啊，所以我觉得之前在能源公司就职的经历有助于我以后的就业。

另外，还想问问我这样的情况，申请奖学金的机率大吗？不胜感激！

If you can spare the time and effort, I would highly recommend for you to interview on site at the campus. There are several reasons behind this: 

1. It's always better to talk to AdCom in person, it tells them that you are really interested in their program and it gives them a good first impression. Prior to the interview, you can do some small talk on your drive over there. 

2. This gives you a good opportunity to see the school, talk to current students and interact with the faculty

3. For most people, face to face interview is usually easier than phone interview

The interview at Rice is pretty straight forward. They ask you all of the typical questions that other schools asks. Remember to emphasize your strengths and how that will make you an UNIQUE (valuable) addition to the class at Rice.

Your background looks good and your GMAT scores are solid. If I remember correctly, you should focus on your Toefl scores. Getting a good score on Toefl is important for Rice. 

Regarding your scholarship chances, you might or might not get it because your GMAT scores are not over 700. If you do receive scholarship, it is likely that it won't be a lot. With your background and if you do well in your essays, you have a very good chance of getting admitted to Rice. No worries!

You should try and hang around the Galleria area, it has a super huge shopping center and lots of restaurants.

Thank you very much for sharing your ideas with me, I think I have to take the GAMT exam again if I want to get the scholarship from Rice or other universities.is it right?
