GMAT: Just started preparing hardcore

Motive: To get into a top (preferably strategic) consulting firm, work my way up in that firm.

Work Experience: 1.5 year full time (by September 2009) small B2B firm, doing market monitoring and market assessment (Can I call this consulting?) + Summer intern as accountant (back office) in a well known (I hope) investment bank.

Undergraduate: Top school in Canada, graduating this June. Bechelor of Commerce, GPA 3.7/4.0, dean's list, scholarships.

Extracurricular activities: Business board member at a university student club; Student club president in high school.

Progress: Planning to get over with GMAT by the end of this year. + Trying to decide whether to apply this year or next year.

*Cuz I'm a girl, I really want to get my MBA ASAP.

Would my chance of getting into a top school increase a lot if I work for one more year? What if I switch to a more prestigous firm but for a lower position?

It would be great if you can leave some comments.

Here are my two cents.

Location: San Francisco

Bsc Marketing 3.33 (From UK school)

GMAT: Preparing, target score 700+

T: Not needed

Working Experence, 3 years in semiconductor equipment sales, 5 years in business development/sales for a top Logistic / Express company (Not Fedex), including 18 months as an Expat in Shanghai.  

Target School: Columbia, NYU, YALE, TUCK, DUKE, MIT, Wharton (No backup school, opportunity cost is too high. it is not worth pursuing if it is not top shcool)

Why now? want to move to managment consultant, leveraging my industry experience.

GMAT 760/5.0  iBT 107 (低了点，见鬼。及格就不想重考了)

工作背景
五百强制造业 Engineer + Management trainee. 半年德国，四年中国。生产工艺。其间出差去过南美欧洲亚洲

教育背景
国内211工科大学IT的BE, GPA 2.7 (年少无知，希望GMAT能救一下吧)
德国某工科大学IT&AS的MSc, GPA 3.5

社会活动背景
组织公司球队参加各种比赛，包括慈善比赛。

选校:
MIT （几乎没希望，LFM要求去学校面试，但是一定要试一试）
西北，康奈尔... M7, 杜克，普度？INSEAD (可惜一年的，我可能会觉得有点短)

为什么要MBA？
最早是赌一口气，凭什么大家接受一样的教育（甚至有时候我们做得更好），做一样的工作，在中国的“租界”里面我们的工资比德国人低得多，还不如在德国作实习生。
后来了解越多，越觉得打开了一扇大门。不像以前只能看见工厂机床那点儿事。越来越觉得有意思，和一些非常优秀的人一起学习，工作。当然还有钱的问题。申了吧。

Why now?
合同到期了，就快自由了。

真正的国际化。中国和德国的化学反应。

第一次在CD上留言，因为前一段时间都在准备GMAT考试，也把我的情况和各位朋友分享一下，希望明年的9月份能够在美利坚团聚。

GMAT:  740（4月份在广州第一次考才620，经过一个月的努力在新加坡考了740，说明努力还是最重要的，希望能给大家一些鼓励），TEFEL计划7月份在新加坡考。

教育：国内某知名经济学学士，03年毕业 GPA 还没算

工作经验：一直在航空公司工作，外航工作一年，现任国内某航空公司驻新加坡负责人

选校： Warton  Duke， Standford，Yale， UC-Berkeley，HBS等在前20名的美国学校吧。。。

why MBA：

1、其实主要是想换个行业干，个人感觉金融行业挑战性强，目标是投行。

2、想去美国切实学点东西，多交些牛人朋友，为将来的人生发展打好基础

3、希望学习后能在美国工作一段时间，然后回国发展，中国的问题很多，前景也是很大的。。

社会活动背景：大学的时候是学校一个社团的负责人（环保类），不知道是否有用

申请进展：7月搞定TOEFL，9月申请，希望明年过年前能拿到OFFER，可以好好放松半年：）

社会活动: 一堆，不过毕业太久了，估计没用

MBA 方向: Consultant or Finance

选校: top30 (打算总共申请6~8所左右)

Why MBA: Long time dream, want to change career.
