which one is better? (Finance)

I am not sure about Penn State Univ. but their director has sent me several emails to make sure the deadline of UMN and tried to get the committee together. Anyway~

In case I got that offer, which one is better?

It seems that UMN has a better Econ department and a higher overall ranking in business school(MBA). This year it has a pretty placement.

PSU seems to have a better overall ranking and reputation.

The productivity rank from ASU:

31
Pennsylvania State University
0
35

48
Minnesota, U. of - Minneapolis
27

They have almost the same faculty resource.

Could anyone give me some advices? Thank you very much!

UMN is better in terms of research and reputation in finance.
Several papers you may want to check:" Establishing a Pecking Order for Finance Academics:
Ranking of U.S. Finance Doctoral Programs", " "Research Ranking of Finance Departments:
A Modified Citation Approach", and "Comparing the Research Productivity of
Finance PhD Program Graduates". They are all available for download on SSRN.

ASU ranking includes many not so good journals and is unweighted... Not so accurate..

Anyway, congratulations!!

it seems that all the PSU chinese faculty have great interest in asset pricing, while all the female faculty have great interest in IPO.

by the way, ASU's ranking is based on top 4 finance journals, although it is true that it is not weighted...

they have a ranking for overall research, but do they have a ranking for specific fields, like finance, acct, etc.?

For me, I will chose Minnesota absolutely, because of the placement and reputation.  Penn State seem in the small town. I like big city. Of course, you should take consideration of your research interest as well.

Well, but PSU is close to the heart of finance--NY city.
