no news from UMD would be bad news

I got 2 offers, not many...and UMD is better than them...

I kind
of talked to them on Monday, I emailed and they called back, and asked
me a few questions, including some quite technical ones...but I don't
think that is an interview since they did not invite me...and, why
didn't they simply tell me that they are in the process of interviewing
people but I am not the chosen one? Why did they still ask me what my interest is? trying to make me feel better or trying to fool me?...

Maybe they are still keep on inviting more interviews. Since you have two offers, the situation is much better than me. I have no offer at all

It
is not easy for all of us. This is the most miserable waiting I have
ever had - in the circle of building and breaking my confidence and
hope...

Come on neo1001.    UMD is at the same level as Wisconsin and Washington.
   Leave some hope to 0-offer CDers

according to citation ranking, wisc and washington are top 30, while umd is only 51.... check the paper " Research Ranking of Finance Departments: A Modified Citation Approach".... of course, they are improving lately...

They have very good research at corp. fin., which I wanna do.

Plus, I have some personal reasons that I want to go to UMD...
