emotionally struggling, not excited at all

I just feel I am so scared of the phd life. Really talented and research orientated people could succeed in a phd program. But I question myself if I am that type. Maybe I will just start hunting for jobs. 5 yrs could make me a lot of money . Congrats to folks who go to top-notch schools, those big names could rock the rest of your lives

我觉得这个考虑确实很有必要，如果不热爱研究工作，phd确实不是好的选择；
当然不清楚金融的毕业以后的工作去向，如果可以进入大型的企业集团或者金融证券公司，不只是教学研究，那么还是可以读的；
因此我觉得楼主可以打听一下phd毕业后的工作去向，然后再作决定～

现在JOB MARKET也不景气。当然如果你超强除外。。

I like doing research but am not  gifted.

Some big companies may like finance phds, but I dont like living under the shadow of laying-off when I turn out 30 yrs old but just start career. I just think that the five yrs phd life could not, in the end,  pay off what you have been suffering through, without considering the great pleasure and academic achievement both of which are not quite attractive to me.

You are abosultely right. States is being or heading for a recession but the chinese market is just booming, especially in finance. I am thinking of going back. You make easy money and never worry about paying heavy property tax for your house. Besides, there is not much fun in my life here. Without exams and classes, my life is pretty much vacuume. Also, it's kinda pathetic to still struggle with exams when GAOKAO is almost 10 yrs away. Anyway, I dont know~, too many options deviate the judgement

You won't regret if you come to carlson for a phd in finance. This year the placement is quite good. One of the job market candidates got offers from U of Toronto, Indiana U, Arizona State U, LSE, Barclays...Two other candidates got offers from Suny-buffalo, NUS. However, none of them are going to the industry. Hope this can help you make decisions.
