我覺得(不過真的只是我個人覺得而已)

就是要跟 a market has grown(for**)that is bringing

的has grown相呼應 所以如果在這裡用that brings好像就無法顯現出這個市場一直再成長的感覺

如果用are bringing 或bring的话, 和前面的market就不一致了. 而根据逻辑判断, that从句应该修饰的是market.

至于用is bringing 还是 brings, 同意楼上autumn713的说法.

请问既然that可以跳越修饰前面的N, 那么在 N1 for N2 of N3 and N4 that +V +O 的结构中, that有没有可能指代N3+ N4呀??? 如果满足主谓一致和逻辑合理的话.

a market for bygone styles of furniture and fixtures 对于这个名词结构，它的中心语是a market ，绝大多数情况下它后面的定从是修饰中心语的，在考研英语翻译教学中，都是这样处理的。

cocoabean的问题很好，在考研英语翻译中只有一次出现了你说的情况，但是绝大多数情况下还是修饰中心语。

1, basically, 'which' and 'that' prefer to the nearest words, but there are some exceptions
2, they can refer to the words farther as long as there is no ambiguity by matching the subjects and verbs
3, as the other commentators said, it is the market that brings back the chaise lounge ..., not the furthur and fixtures.
4, it is the market that has grown ...

我觉得将which指代的词还原到which从句中看是否合适就可以判断which的指代，

例如OG11-62. A 1972 agreement between Canada and the United States reduced the amount of phosphates that municipalities had been allowed to dump into the Great Lakes.
A. reduced the amount of phosphates that municipalities had been allowed to dump
B. reduced the phosphate amount thatmunicipalities had been dumping
C. reduces the phosphate amount municipalities have been allowed to dump
D.reduced the amount of phosphates that municipalities are allowed to dump
E. reduces the amount of phosphates allowedfor dumping by municipalities
这里判断that的到底是修饰amount还是phosphates,只需将两个代入that从句中即可，amount和phosphates还原到从句中应该是做dump的宾语，由于只能是dump phosphates 而不能dump amount，就可发现that只能是修饰phosphates。当然这是其中一个方法，若还有其他方法，还请各位大侠赐教。
