Nowadays, our country confronts two options: one is to keep land for its natural condition; the other is to develop the land for housing and industrial need. Those who prefer the former attitude say that the development will damage the environment which we should preserve persistently. Considering the situation of our country, China, however, I think the latter opinion is more reasonable for country’s development rather than the former one. I will present the concrete evidence to support my views as follows. With the population of one fourth of the world’s, China now is facing the difficulties of scarcity of houses. Statistical reports have demonstrated that the demand for houses has overrun the supply of those despite high speed of construction. If we turn a blind eye on the housing problem, the economy will be abnormal and out of control for the high price which people cannot afford, even cannot be averted. Housing development will not only benefit people who need solve the basic problem, but also the economic balance. So we should not ignore the basic need for houses in China.
As a developing country in the third world, we should improve our economic status not only by exportation, but also by domestic industry such as exploitation, manufacture and so on. And such types of industrial could also provide abundant job opportunities for semi-skilled and skilled workers, which increases the social stability. For instance, you might notice Dalian , a famous city depends on shipping manufacture as its main economic source. Several ship yards provide thousands of jobs to the people who need a stable income for raising families. Therefore, I would say that due to the harmony of Dalian, a lot of people go to Dalian and become along-term residents. In conclusion, development for housing and industry can improve our country’s economic status, but also release the burden of employment. However, housing and industries undoubtedly have drawbacks such as pollution and loss of arable land. If we pay attention to the environment, we should benefit ourselves to the most extent.
