my age is over 30, i am in US for > 5 years.

i am for accy phd, i like to talk with accy phd applicants or current stu who r in US soil

i am a cpa, accy master and engineering master, I did not apply for top colleges, cuz i am old

2 nights on hotels, 2 dinners, 1 breakfast, 1 lunch,   dinner talk is more stressful,

i am the first one to be interviewed, they intend to take 3 or 4 new stu, 3 for sure, the 4th depends on backgrounds of the pool

met 5 profs and 5 phd students, including the phd coordinator

annual stipend $25,000 + insurance,  no any fees to pay

they asked how many other colleges i applied, and assessed each school for me.

i did show my strong interest and commitment, --- common sense.

in the coordinator's office, i saw more than 100 application packets, he was screening so quickly while talking with me. VERY CURSORY SELECTION, i see my fate in other schools,

will post the result once i know, particularly waiting for the news of one college in the city i am currently living, location is my first priority, that means, if i can attend duke or cornell or rochester (i even did not apply) , reject it, it is in rural forest place, a little cold, and my family will not go there, You young guys have more to go.

How did they assess the applications for other schools for you?

Did they say that you have high probability to other better school?

Did they try to persuade you that they are your best choice?

I personally think they always do it, especially some good programs.
