补充一点：A 选项意思也不对

表时间的副词结构now和at any time in their production history比较，现代科技能使小车在现在比在过去省油，

A选项的意思是说：同一辆车现在比过去更省油（是时间状语在比较，比较同一件东西）。

而原文是想要说，现在造出的车比过去造出的车更省油（是车和车在比较，比较不同时候的不同东西）。

B 和A犯同样的错误，they指代“现在生产的汽车”，还是时间和时间在比较

C 用those指代“small cars”

A中逻辑意思不对，我后来这么理解就好懂了很多，A中的make small cars more...now than...的意思只能是：是小车（同样的对象）现在比过去更省油，而原句想表达的意思是造出比原来更省油的小车，逻辑重心已经改变（同时A中的其他小错误如没有other,their指代不明等）

(2) B項they和their指代不同意思，manhattan說GMAT不允許這種情況出現，排B
(3) D項，原句意思上應該是現在的小車比以前更加省油了，而D項表示現在的能節省油耗的車更多了。意思不對。
