It's hard to say based on what you listed. It's not just about job position or brand name, it's more about what you're actually doing, your career aspiration/vision, etc.
以下是引用chenholan在2003-12-14 1:22:00的发言: what excatly they want from my family background? money? it seems too vague..
If your father is a billionaire, that is not a bad thing to Harvard, they will hug you into HBS.
If your parents are from different culutures, say, one Japanese, one Frenchman, that'll also be very impressive. because you are brought up in cultural diversity.
if you have an upgoing family business, and you are going to take over your father's position soon to develop your family business, even planning to offer IPO, that's equally impressive.
If your parents are diplomats and your family has been travelling in the past 20 years, your experience will catch the eyeballs of HBS admission officers, too.
maybe u are already at HBS or know a lot of HBS alumni.
u may think that i'm kidding. but i'm just giving examples how family background could be impressive in different ways. 故事各有不同,只要独特就行。
but actually besides the billionaire possibility, many applicants may have more impressive background than the 3 other possibilities:这三个例子不难作到啊。
(1)parents from different culutures-brought up in cultural diversity. 世界上至少有几千万这样的家庭吧
(2)upgoing family business-to develop your family business 有家族企业的更多
(3)parents are diplomats-travels a lot 上海就有一两千外交官了,世界上至少也有几千万这样的家庭吧
当然还有无数别的可能。
last year HBS admitted 2 americans from shanghai. one is U.S.-educated german who speaks perfect Chinese. the other has extremely interesting experience plus a Chinese wife.
