[求助]越做越迷惑，再问介词的修饰问题

这是张道真语法的摘录
介词一般在名词之前（亦可后置），可作以下几种成分：
1．    主语：from Beijing to tianjing is two hours by train
2．    表语：Mr. Smith is from New York
3．    宾语：I will give you until tomorrow
4．    定语：A friend in need is a friend indeed
5．    状语：Dona covered her face with her hand as if swooning
6．    补语：As a scientist, he was dedicated to the truth(主补)
         They found themselves in a dark wood(宾补)

    上午问了关于介词的用法，还是那两个结构：
    （1）。。。。+名词，介词短语
    （2）。。。。+名词+介词短语
     对于第一个结构，我的理解是：这里的介词短语只能做状语，修饰前面的句子，有没 有反例呢？？
     对于第二个结构，我的理解是：这里的介词短语可以做状语修饰句子或者是定语修饰前面的名词。
     刚才又看到一个例子如下：（大全80）
80.Although films about the American West depict coyotes as solitary animals howling mournfully on the tops of distant hills, in reality these gregarious creatures live in stable groups that occupy the same territory for long periods.
(A) films about the American West depict coyotes as solitary animals howling mournfully on the tops of distant hills
(C) coyotes are depicted as solitary animals howling mournfully on the tops of distant hills in films about the American West
    答案是A，抛开主动被动的问题，这里就是in films 修饰的问题。昨天我记得5OR6问了这个题目，我还答复他说，C选项中的in films 修饰上不好，感觉是修饰了the tops of distant hills。这里就是我说的第2种结构（。。。+名词+介词短语），按照语法书上这个结构中介词短语可以做定语修饰名词（the tops of distant hills），也可以做状语修饰前面的句子啊！但是我怎么读就是觉得C不爽呢？？？
     哪位能指点一下，C到底是对的还是错的？？选A是因为A，C都对，但是A比C好选的，还是C有错误才选的呢？？
     另外，我说的介词短语的两种结构的修饰问题，有错误吗？

^_^, 还是那句话: 没有绝对的标准, 只能根据句意判断 "名词+介词短语"究竟修饰的是前面的名词,还是整个句子. 对于80的C答案, 不是错在in films的介词短语用的不对, 而是因为depict这个动词是由逻辑主语films发出的, 即: 电影描述...东东, 要比什么东东在电影里面被描述要好的多.

对了,还有一点, 看一下OG 263, 这句话
resulting from the destruction of the largest library of the ancient world at Alexandria,
正是因为介词短语at Alexandria既可以修饰前面的名词,又可以修饰句子,所以放在这里会产生歧异, 要分开陈述.
