Morgan Stanley supports EDHEC research chair 2008-02-21 News
Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) has agreed to support a research chair at EDHEC, the French risk and asset management research centre. The financial engineering and global alternative portfolios for institutional investors research chair is a three-year research programme piloted jointly by MSIM/EDHEC. EDHEC’s team, led by scientific director Lionel Martellini, will look at whether alternative investment strategies, such as hedge funds, commodities, real estate and private equity, can be useful as both core and satellite components of a performance-seeking portfolio. Where these strategies could bring beta and alpha benefits will also be part of the study. “The search for alpha is fast becoming a key driver in the investment process and is driving the need for more investment options than just skilled management within the traditional asset classes,” said Jim Dilworth, managing director and CEO of MSIM Europe, Middle East and Africa. The results of the research will be presented at a conference in Paris on October 23 and in London on December 9-10. |
