This is how I did.
First, recognize the sentence structure.
The sentence iin reverse order because the subjective is very long.
"the use of ....." has been  "What was as remarkable as the development of the compact disc"

Secondly, "the use of .." is a noun to express action. So I try to find a simlar things because Be was used. ==> Rule out A, B, D, E.

Finally, just Plug all answers into sentence, C is the best.
