以下是引用厚道后到在2008-5-22 19:18:00的发言:I have been granted offer by both HKUST MBA and NUS MBA. Since both have their respective strength and weakness, I have been evaluating pros and cons of these two schools and have not arrived any decisive conclusion. Please help to shed some light on my school selection! Thanks! My concerns are below: HKUST: HK is famous global financial center, especially for corporate and investment banking. Many top IBs have set up HK as their regional HQ. HKUST MBA is very strong in finance and have good relationship with many top recuiters. Besides, HKUST's ranking is on the rising track recently, which gains it significant recogintion and acceptance in Asia and globally. HKUST has teamed up with 50+ top universities worldwide for students exchange program, among which are many top US universities. What's more, HK is more energetic, faster, less reguation relative to SGP. NUS: SGP is a ideal place for living. It is small and peaceful and has a prosperous econamy. NUS is a comprehensive university and one of the best university in SGP, which put NUS at an advantageous edge in SGP. Upon graduation, MBA students may easily obtain PR, which may facilitate their further stay and employment in SGP. Furthermore, SGP is another country which has a efficient government system and safe environment. SGP is more international and diversed than HK in terms of popution composition. Students there may gain more international exposure than their counterparts in HK. English is a major media of communiation in SGP, whereas people in HK perfer to speaking cantonese whenever possible. Also, SGP is a global financial center although its focus is on asset management and wealth management. The above pros and cons make these two options paralleled to each other, which makes my decision more complicated. Appreciate your insightful opinions! P.S. I have 7 years in working experience in Finance/banking in China. I'm personally not familiar with NUS, although I'm sure it's a good university as well. Based on your finance background and recent year's job placement statistics (especially this year), I can only tell you that if you choose HKUST, there is a huge possibility that you can go to investment bank, asset management or PE per your interest. The financial job opportunities here are just tremendous... The recent case is that BlackRock has just recruited one of my classmates for a 6-month internship program. Only mainland students from HKUST MBA are invited to the interview. For this particular case, one student out of the only three candidates gets the job, which is 1/3 probability!!!
