其实og的解释很清楚:
1、 首先看介词搭配,damage若为动词其后可直接跟名词forest,若为名词则要加to; growth(名词)后面则要跟介词of;排除a/b。
2、其次比较名词/动名词,d不用看,比较c/e,c的slowness明显啰嗦,而且没有表达出原文意思。

感觉ETS关于D的解释还是有问题,只能说介词in 后不能跟D那样的结构。
I guess, here OG explanation of D is saying that both damaged and slowed modify growth as past participles
DE in 后 + noun/ ~ing
D从语法上, in ... growth, so both damaged and slowed can only modify growth
But E, in damaging and slowing the growth of forests...., in + damaging and slowing ...., 语法上, damaging 不必须refer to growth, 而逻辑上, 显然damaging forests更合适
