请教学长一个问题，MBA学生可以免费旁听其他课程么？例如历史，文学以及其他感兴趣的金融课程

Hello HKU MBA,

I noticed that HKU MBA is a 14 months program, shorter than other programs.

That means only 2 months left after students come back from summer internship.  So will it still be a semester or just job hunting time?

Another question is , since the partner b-schools are both famous for their finance, will you focus your career more on finace other than traditional industries?

Any information would be appreciated.

网站上写得很清楚啦, 本科的教学语言不是英语的，需要提供这两个成绩之一... iBT>100,  IELTS>6.5

No semester after we come back from LBS and CBS.

Career focus: all depends on each individual person. Of course quite a number of people focus on finance and consulting.

Just share some information, this the fixed income or anything related to bonds gets affected by the US subprime disaster. However, the buy side increases the demand for talents rapidly. Buy side means PE, VC, M&A, asset management etc.

我去年刚贷款买房，年初又买了车

所以看到今年学费又涨了2万（可能是汇率问题。。），如果在1年内凑30万对于工作3年半的我来说，不是那么容易

Generally, buy side are a broad terms of hedge fund, Mutual fund, PE and investment or asset management firms, M&A definitely should be classified to investment banking(specifically, financial advisory), which should be on sell side.

BTW, M&A is quite a hot topic in Asia these years, for example, Lazard set up an office in BJ in 2006, HLHZ set up its BJ office in 2007.

很遗憾，今年因为自身的原因不能去读MBA了，写信申请能否把名额保留到明年，还没收到答复，不知道有无此先例？如果不行的话明年还会继续申请！

在这1年希望能好好准备下，因为没有金融行业的背景，想先自学下，不知道各位能否推荐一些书籍以及介绍下HKU的课程，好提前准备下，先谢过了

有没有前辈指点一下：奖学金的比率问题 以及是不是Prof.会根据candidate的情况直接与admission一起派发？？

另一个在info session时问过Dr.Chan的问题，总是觉得HKU的MBA很finance oriented，可能与很多读MBA的人本身想转金融投行有关，Dr.Chan宣讲会的时候例举的也是BCG..Mc..bank的例子，很少有traditional/luxury industry的例子，让我一度更加认为HKU很focus on finance，Dr.Chan当场给予了我回答，但我还是想听下前辈们的意见。
