The key is D but some says B.

The fundamental quesiton is which one "that" refers, "more than 2000 letters and documents" or "a historical account"?

And also, can "a historical account" be "gathered"?

that修饰主语，太远了吧~~我觉得that指代的对象是"a historical account"或者"the military garrison"

还是觉得D正确

well, that is my concern 2 but somehow feel "a history account" can not be "gathered". Any comments?
