选项C没有问题，可是看以前的帖子，最后没有讨论出 if it were to strike eartch到底是什么成份，确定是插入语吗？ 但是插入语应该对句意不产生影响的。大家怎么看？

主句的宾语的定语从句that，and that的条件状语从句

应该是表示与将来事实相反或不太可能实现的情况的虚拟语气

C正确是建立在第二个that引导了一个定语从句,修饰asteroid.
即asteroid that ,(if it were to strike earth), could do .................
我想lz的意思是想问为什么括号中的部分被生硬的插入了主语跟谓语之中把.

其实这题我也一直想不通^_^,我是选A的,但有牛指出,按我的理解,and逗号应该放前面,呵呵.
BTW:个人感觉if x,y的句型一般x都是现在时,y是将来时.不知道为什么大家都说if后要加虚拟语态,我自己再去看看语法点得.

A中and 后面没有that, 就是an asteroid that....and it can do....如果and 是连接两个独立的并列句那么and前面一定要有逗号，而所有选项中都是紧跟and的，所以it 就是多余的成分。而且跟C比较，语态上C更优越
