137. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? High schools should allow students to study the courses that students want to study. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. The society is changing, every day, every hour, and every minute At the same time, high schools are searching new teaching methods all the times. Recently, there is a proposal that high schools should allow students to study the courses that students want to study. The person who opposes the new change for high students might consider that high school students are too young, and immature to choose the proper courses for themselves. If they obtain the right to choose the courses randomly, they may not have the correct decisions to develop well. As far as I am concerned, at the basic of the required subjects, allowing students to select the courses what they want is helpful for them. First, given the chance to choose the courses that high school students are interested in, they can increase the initiative to study. When I was in high school, everyday the courses for me were the same, literature, mathematics, history, chemistry, physics. I was tired with the old study way. It is not hard to imagine, today's high school students have the same feelings. In addition, broadening the fields of knowledge is another merit. If there are more opportunities for boys and girls to choose their courses, it will get more knowledge and experiences. For girls, they can study dancing and music, besides of the knowledge on the books. For boys, they can choose the football class and basketball class when they are bored of the study in classroom. A well-balanced development is of utmost importance. For students’ growth. Preparing for the university study and life style is another positive factor that I consider. When high schools students find the right interests through choosing different courses, they could have the right choices when applying for the college majors. Because of the traditional way of teaching in high school, many young people find that they had made the wrong decision when they chose the major for further development.. In conclusion, giving the opportunity to students to choose the courses is helpful for their further development. |
