Some people believe that advertising encourages us to buy things we really do not need. Others disagree, and argue that advertisements tell us about new products that may improve our lives. Both of the sides have reasonable facts to support their argument. Personally, I believe that advertisements do help us a lot if we use it in the right way.
Advertisements do tell us some useful information. Nowadays advertising plays an important role in informing the information of the new products more than it did before. It is the advertisement that tells people the function and feature of the products. For example, a new type of machine tool is just completed. Advertising it is the most efficient mean to let people know about the product if the producer hopes to get a great profit.
There are some kinds of advertisement that tell us invaluable information about products, or even harmful ones. When product that of little use is invited, under the drive of making money, the merchant advertise it in an exaggerated manner. Take the Brightness for example, it is a common light. But the advertisement makes it become a so-called supernatural product that could cure all sorts of eye diseases if people use it 30 minutes a day at least. It is cheating out of question. Such kind of advertisement will lead a waste of money, or even some horrible results.
Some kinds of advertisements do help us know about good products, while some confuse or cheat us, consumers. The key point is that we must have the ability to distinguish them and make use of the good ones to improve our lives.
