A: unlike和后面主语不对等

B: unlike比较对象不对等

C: cooking和taking spices逻辑意义上不对等

E: they指代不明，可以指quantities or spices

这里，B为何比较对象不平行？这里应该是spices和they互为比较对象是吗？我理解关键这里这个they指代什么？

这里出现了A for B的结构。那么they是不是应该优先指代 using spices ？还是指代 “spices” 或者“medicine"?  我排除B的时候是觉得指代不明排除掉的。

个人理解，句子的重点在于in large quantities。即对比quantities。
B中unless说的是the species use。而后面的句意侧重于quantities。——对比不平行
明白对比内容后则只有D、E可能正确，比较D、E差别发现D表达意思更明确，故而得解。
不知道到这样理解对否

经楼上mm一讲，有那么点感觉。。。但是从语法上，还是不明白C何以不对。。。

DONE是中文的说法,awkward

而且对比是数量，并不是行为，所以用C似乎不好

我选择的是E，从平行结构上看我觉得E更对称，但错误是否是其中的they指代不清，请高人指点，谢谢
