I found some interesting information on Kellog's website. Kellog is the only M7 school that publishes the distribution of GMAT scores for both the pool of applicants and the enrolled students.
| UP TO 640 | 650 - 690 | 700 - 740 | 750 - 800 | Enrolled Students | 9% | 29% | 45% | 17% | Total Applicants | 16% | 25% | 44% | 15% |
Apparently, a GMAT score below 640 does hurt the chance of getting admitted, while above 650, the probability of getting amitted is almost the same. Of course, there is also a yield factor. Those who were granted admission but did not accept the offer were more likely to be among those with high GMAT scores than among those with low GMAT scores.. But even accounting for that, I am now inclined to believe that, while a > 750 score would probably enhance the chance, the effect would not be very significant. |
