Prep给出的答案是E。但是，还是看不懂这句句子。哪位给分析一下 ?

COMPARE TO 是“比作”之意，排除A和B

D中UNLIKE的句型用法不对，排除

-ING形式应该主语为发出动作的，C看不出来这个意思，而且IT在里面会不会存在指代不清。

这类题目好像碰到的情况还是很多，可以好好分析一下。

谢谢ls的回复。对于你的解释我有些异议：“COMPARE TO 是“比作”之意，排除A和B”，这句话说得有些绝对。Longman中得解释说这两个词组意思类似：
compared to/with something：
used when considering the size, quality, or amount of something in relation to something similar

Example1：a 20% reduction in burglary compared with last year

Example2：Compared to our small flat, Bill's house seemed like a palace.

另外，我的问题也不是怎么解答这道题。我只是疑惑这句句子得结构：“in 1910 this group made up 35 percent of the population ”这部分是插入语？如果是的话，那么句子就变成了is not compared with，那么这是什么意思呢 ？不太理解。。。

对这道题我的疑惑是：

1. 在比较中，说compare to绝对错误的说法似乎不对。PERP确实有题目，表示比较，正确答案用了compare to的：

31. A recent review of pay scales indicates that CEO’s now earn an average of 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, compared to a ratio of 42 times in 1980.

 

1. that CEO’s now earn an average of 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, compared to a ratio of 42 times

2. that, on average, CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, a ratio that compares to 42 times

3. that, on average, CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio

4. CEO’s who now earn on average 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio

5. CEO’s now earning an average of 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, compared to the ratio of 42 times

2. A答案中的“when compared。。。” 读起来比较奇怪，逻辑意思上似乎有些偏差，不知道这算不算也是它的错误。记得以前做过的OG题目中，正确答案没有出现过“when compared。。。”这种结构啊。但是PREP102题目中，大侠笔记上说“when compared”和“compared”是一个意思。

希望讨论一下。

这道题我还有个疑问：那就是笔记中说的“in 1910 this group made up…独立主格结构”不懂这里怎么是独立结构了。难道group不能直接made up。。。还要“was made up。。。”？（因为只有这样，这里was去掉后才能被理解为独立结构。）
