1、             倒装结构下谓语和主语的主谓一致

2、             了解清楚On Earth的修饰对象是谁

3、             Their出现指代问题

我觉得应该选C

我觉得E更好,选项C中on earth作为副词修饰整个主句,修饰范围太广.

选项E,on earth修饰indications修饰明确

怎么会有修饰范围的问题呢？

举个例子吧:

Quickly, he picked up the wallet and returned it to me

He picked up the wallet quickly and returned it to me

其中第一个句子quickly修饰整个句子,既可以修饰picked up又可以修饰returned

而第二个句子quickly只能修饰picked up

因此存在一个副词修饰范围的问题

楼上非常有理。这道题根本不是其它帖子所说的指代啊什么的错误，关键是on earth的位置：是在地球上的最sure的indication，而不是在地球上，树的生长blabla。。。。on earth 放前面和句子中间区别开来,那就只有DE，D没有谓语动词，所以是E

加上一点：未划线部分的as seen in the rings visible in the cross sections of their trunks.的比较对象是the rate at which trees grow，比较的对象离得越近越好。

E.      Among the surest indications on Earth of sunspot cycles is believed to be the rate at which trees grow    最好。
