I was interviewed on the 16th of March. Prof. Mark challenged my understanding of FE at very begining saying that my career goal doesn't match FE(my carreer goal is to be a quant first then a trader eventually), and I should defintely do Applied OR instead. I was a bit overwhelmed and wasn't able to manage to persuade him that I'm one of best candidates for FE. I would say I screwed up my interview. My interview only took less than 10 mins since he found out I got my bachalor degree in Australia, he said goodbye and hang up the phone after he told me there's no point testing my English at all. But I still got an ad to Meng which was dated on the day after my interview(FE not confirmed).
My suggestion to you...this interview is basically about two things: 1. your understanding of FE (don't be overwhelmed when he told you that your understanding of FE is wrong or your career goal doesn't match FE...ready to fight back...show your understanding and interests). 2. your English
Anyway, take this interview easy...Getting an interview pretty much secure you a place in Cornell Meng or Applied OR...but it's hard to get a FE since most of slots have been filled. GOOD LUCk!
