解释说，因为longer than 后为名词短语，比较从句结构不完整，导致比较对象引起争议。什么叫做后面为名词短语，比较从句结构不完整啊？后面其实也是名词啊？

比如Mike is taller than David. 就不用主动词啊？

而且，比较的两个结构的动词都是were，比较对象可以省略阿？

不产生歧义可以不加，此题恰恰产生歧义，所有一定要加

说说我的看法：

这题比较的部分是were后面的内容，也就是表语部分。因此不能省，否则会有歧义。

瞎举个例子：I am happy than you are.

如果变成了I am happy than you.就有种I am 'you' than 'I am happy'.

挺别扭吧，但事实如此啊。
