我觉得问题在于，原句用冒号表示强调等等作用，但是改成从句就削弱了语气。

一点个人意见：

一种可能是由于include的用法，A include(s) B, 表示B是A的一部分，而此题无论后面的spoilage of food等是deterioration 还是 effects, spoilgae都是deterioration或effects的一种表现，用include可能不合适：

从逻辑上讲是deterioration啊

感觉应该服从原文 原文用加冒号的形式实际上是在告诉你:the effects of deterioration are: spoilage of food, corrosion of metals,decay of wood, and other undesirable alterations of substances.而D项正好违背了这一点

是不是因为deterioration前面有个bacteria的缘故？

根据原文的意思，which应修饰the effects,但从D中的位置看却是修饰deterioration.

my point is that which modifies the effects not  deterioration since the verb in the clause is "include" not "includes" 

but I prefer E because E is more concise than D. And I do think they both imply the same meaning.
