A错在shaped so smoothly, 导致逻辑意思不对,原句应该表达的是变得光滑 (shaped smooth),而不是光滑地变(shaped  smoothly)

再举一例,我们可以说 天气变糟糕了 the weather turns bad, 而不能说天气槽糕地变 the weather badly turns

I didnot tell it clear.  But we always need a pronoun to refer "them" in the clase.

On the other hand, participles have nothing to refer in this since cluase which has no subject
