If you have received your ideal offer, Congratulations! If you have not received your offer yet, don't worry, it's on the way. Either way, as you have chosen to down this path, I guess some words won't hurt to assit you succeed in your upcoming adventure. 1. Take time to figure out what you truely want to do. In case you do not know yet, here are some ways to achieve that: 1) read Vault or Wetfeet guides; 2) talk to those in the industry you have interest in; 3) Experience it yourself. Go interview with the firms, talk to recruiters, and work for a week. Pros: Get to know the firm, the industry, the People, and help you in your internship/career search. Cons: Your opportunity cost. You have pretty much very little to lose. Go for it. 2. If you want to do consulting: 1) Get to know what Case Interview means. Once school starts, you will be overwhelmed with new material and company presentations. The consulting summer intern is very competitive. Develop your backup plan, and excel at Case Interview Early! 2) Networking doesn't help much. Don't waste too much time on it. Networking is necessary, but not a determination factor. Save your time to crack some cases. 3. If you want to do I-banking: 1) Networking, networking, networking 2) Study finance, get to know the terms and models. 4. What to do before getting on the plane? Enjoy life. Do something you dream to do but don't have gut and time before. Get to know who you are. Get prepared for new venture. P.S. Learn how to drive Well. The driving skill will be handy if you are not attending a school in metro.
