关于PHD的最后疑虑

最近这版讨论PHD适配度的帖子挺多的，托大家的福我对PHD也有了更深的了解。似乎未来是从商的目标还是MBA比较适合，但在MBA区看了1年左右，发现录取的人真的很多，即便是M7每年好像在中国也录不少，虽然不清楚是不是“中国的MBA已经多得臭大街了”但显然MBA这样一个学位很难作为一个difference的东西。

而且很多人也说MBA不是学东西的，而是social network building，和一些大企业金融机构的前manager一起学一两年，以后出来做事大家有个照应。我老师在港中大教FINANCE MBA的感受是学生都很聪明，但是一般不和同班同学做过多交流，也不和老师有什么交流，总是上完课就闪了（这样好像又和一般的看法相左）。所以总体来说我对MBA印象不是太好，如果用来拉关系（虽然不习惯但现在看来不习惯也不行）是不错，学东西似乎差点，然而我想首先我要学到些实际的东西才能拉关系啊发展职业啊。

我知道的国外大学的PHD老师们都在企业机构做过，象英国一个是在英格兰银行，美国一位现在在日本一家大银行做manager，他们当然还是以教学为重，工作也只是为了研究需要，但是我想既然PHD可以做这个就证明PHD学的东西确实对工作是有用的，而且用处也不小。

以MASTER打基础，PHD学知识，MBA拉关系这样子是否是对各个不同学位的最好应用呢？

PhD不是教你学习实际的东西，而是教你如何做research。你对PhD和MBA的认识都有问题。如果你想最终做business，本科毕业知识上差不多了。至于能做到什么程度，完全看你在职场中的悟性，个人天赋，以及运气了。

教学研究不但是平淡，对没有热情的人来说简直是折磨。既然你现在都不喜欢了，以后也没什么喜欢的可能性。去industry很好啊，就算你退了也可以在私人游艇上吊吊鱼什么的。你对phd只是向往而已。比如说你一只暗恋一个女子，但是未必和得来呀。

Agree with ProfCPA. You have some misunderstanding about Phd's and business professors. For Chinese, it's extremely difficult to go from industry to academia in the U.S.. Though sometimes you can learn practical knowledge out of your phd study and may find a good industry job after getting your phd degree, you cannot return to academia after going to industry (though you may locate an academic job in China, hehe...). So either academia or industry, choose one!

If you currently don't know which route to take, you can get a phd first and decide later (many Chinese students do that...), but if you've made up your mind to go to industry, just get an MBA and earn big bucks...Don't waste time and suffer the phd life!

谢谢您的回答。但是对您红字部分的描述我不能说100％的赞同。事实上现在和我关系很不错的一位美国老师原来是claremont的金融历史phd，phd后马上去了city(or citi？)bank工作，之后又转战bank of america等银行，他是50－60岁了退休才来做老师的，除去他在中国做老师的经历（您说这是特例）他现在也在港中大做MBA金融的教授。（恐怕说香港不是中国有些不好，但是我想你说china的时候是不是专指的大陆？呵呵）

P.S. 我想做个MBA老师就很满足了  

        教学是把自己的思想和理念传达出去做好的途径，也是改善中国和帮助其他人的最好途径（这个有说大话的嫌疑了，不过却是我老师的教诲）

I believe catking is too young but think too much. Catking, you just work hard during your undergraduate program. You will have your oppinion about MBA or PHD
