对于本题来说,是required of sb to do

og给的解释是说后面有such firms,所以要加of firm,但是能不能抽象成一般?

前辈们讨论的是被动,所以这个结构是对的,一般只有上面那三种说法

但是我想问问为什么?

我也同意楼上的意见，require最常见就是以上三种用法。OG181题ETS完全没有提到是否require of sb to do sth是一种固定用法！另外，我感觉required of firms to survive在og 181中的意思不太一样~原句是:

Because of the enormous research and development expenditures required of firms to survive in the electronics industry, an industry marked by rapid innovation and ....., such firms tend to be very large.

这里的加粗部分我觉得应该理解为大量的调查研究费用是公司们生存的必要条件。在这里required of 的功能更接近于the requirement of 不过更为简洁。所以我觉得和其他的三种require的用法不一样！

过去分词做定语也是定语从句的简化，还原以后就是：

expenditures (which are) required of firms to survive

of firms 是把要求的对象显示出来的一种手段，所以还是四种用法。

sb1. require sb2. to do. 某人1要求某人2做某事

sth1.(be) required of sb to do sth2.某事1要求某人做某事2

sb. require that+动词原形...  某人要求...

sth. require of sb that+动词原形... 某事要求某人....
