答案选A，我觉得D可能更好。

理由：banked ... 在这里应该是指house was banked with ... 与was conical平行，而非修饰framework与overlaid平行，因为在框架上不可能堆积起这样高的灰尘吧。

这题我也选错了和你一样选Ｄ了，后来想想还是觉得Ａ好，说说理由

BE as...as that错，Ｃ中them指代不明错

只有ＡＤ，查了一下longman上说dirt:any substance that makes things dirty, such as mud or dust

所以可以理解为矿渣沙土这类东西而非灰尘

再者典型ＥＴＳ偏爱的例举平行结构，conical in shape, its framework of poles overlaid with slabs of bark, either cedar or pine, and banked with 最后一项例举用逗和and （注意and是非划线部分）的连接完成，且这三个例举都是在对The single-family house 的说明三项中都有类似adj+prep(conical in shape/overlaid with / banked with )的成份构成平行，我觉得最后一个banked with 不像ＬＺ说的修饰framework,这样结构能更清晰

至于a height of后面的 three to four feet我看的也很郁闷，只能安慰自己求同存异了

个人意见：D中的AS HIGH AS是否可以理解为修饰歧义。可能修饰DIRT，也可能修饰HOUSE...不知道这样理解对吗

关于A中banked with的修饰对象我同意Iawfy的意见是framework, 而不是三项平行修饰house, 因为overlaid前有framework, 后两项都应该修饰它。

同意dirt可以理解为尘土而不仅是灰尘，但framework是由一些柱子和木条钉成的，四面通风，如何可以积聚下3-4英尺，也就是一米多高的尘土（1英尺等于12英寸，约相当于30.48厘米）。只有在挡风的house里面才能banked with dirt as high as 3-4 feet. 我们可以合理怀疑A选项的逻辑有误。

ETS确有一些偏爱，但它也经常打破这些我们理解的“偏爱”。如果D选项不能找出硬伤，我觉得还不能轻易排除。

跟楼上的排除法一样，最后剩下AD，我也错选了D。

我觉得a height of 和 as high as的区别可以解释如下：
a height of指一个具体的高度，对应的是as tall as;
as high as这里指抽象的高度，比如价格，程度，比例等。

由于as...as that of的结构明显错误，我们误认为as...as是正确结构，所以首先排除了a height of，没想到是as...as之间的形容词用法不对，看来GAMC有时不安套路出牌呀~
