一道语法，斑竹及高手请进！

Financier Andrew Mellon donated most of his magnificent art collection to the National Gallery of Art ,where it is now locating.

答案是D
问题是，为什么C不对，什么时候用collection，什么时候加S。这道题collection前面已经是most了，应该用复数才对啊。

我觉得做题如果把四个都看完的话，应该看的出D是明显错了的，怎么能用主动语态呢？如果说认为C也有可疑，可以看看MOST的用法，好象也可以修饰不可数名词，在这里collection应该是不可数名词。大家探讨：）

可情说的在理，D是明显的错误。
可是对于Collection的用法实在迷惑，Toefl中也考过几次这个词的用法，望高手指明。

查了一下，在webster中collection 的解释如下：
1 : the act or process of collecting
2 a : something collected;  especially   : an accumulation of objects gathered for study, comparison, or exhibition or as a hobby  
b : GROUP, AGGREGATE  
c : a set of apparel designed for sale usually in a particular season

从2的a解释可以看出COLLECTION本身做“收藏”讲时是集合名词，应该不加S。但是加S时的用法也有，是指捐款（宗教）。也有A COLLECTION OF的用法，这时的意思是“聚集”。如果语法这么考就没有意思了。

哦，明白了。他本身就是集合名词，所以不用加S，就和PEOPLE一样。

补充一道有个collection的题：
1  A large collections of materials focused on louisiana's history and culture is provided by ........in New Orleans.

很简单，a large 后边加但数

前人看法：collections由同一种物品构成,可数 his three collections of short stories collection 由不同种物品构成,表整体概念不可数 his art collection 。
个人看法：
不过不知道这个，这道题还有一个解题点：“where it is now locating.”中的”it“应指代“most of his magnificent art collection ”说明“collection”在这里不能是复数。
或者可不可以这样看：collection表something collected时为不可数；表GROUP, AGGREGATE  （后有of）时可数
