that of modern human beings也是所有格

that指代的就是manner of walking

不对吧，我记得以前有一题说是 ' 表示的所有格前面的词是不能被指代的，只有改成of才可以前后的词都指代，大家看看吧，明天就要去考了

如果按照你的意思指代the hominid's manner of walking意思上来说肯定错的

从语意上看就是指代the manner of walking的

它的意思是把早前人类的行走方式与现代人类行走方式进行比较
