说说我的理解吧. 首先，这里要比较的是两个时间点的rate.1970和1980.是两个名词相比较.C明确指出了比较对象.

twice what it was in  和twice the number 都是正确的表达方式.

it was fast  觉得好像意思变了 原文意思是   增长率  is twice 增长率

IT 指代 THE RATE OF ~~~  正好变成 THE RATE OF ~~~IS WHAT

 也就是 增长率  is twice 增长率   

WHAT 从句 相当于名次短语。

请问这道题为什莫是C呢？ B为什莫不对？

得出的结论是：B，fast错，其他没错，rate应该用high或者bigger/greater来形容。

C：twice sth根据rosmian的说法是可以的，不过我个人觉的如果是表示双倍的话，double更好

two times有歧异的

既可以表示为：A是B的两倍，A＝2*B

也可以：A比B快两倍：A＝3*B

所以一般two times 表示两倍的时候，不用比较级的，一般只是相同的比较，比如：as。。。as

如果是

twice as。。。as 后面的话，谓语动词之前如果有的话，最好是补足

但如果是

sthA is tiwice sthB

没有必要不足is

我记得OG里面说过，两个不同时期的数据应该看成是两样不同的东西，对它们作比较时不能用it来指代，为什么这里又可以用it了呢？哪位高手指教？

两个不同时期的数据不能比较，那是因为比较的主体不同，比如说：1997 economic growth rate vs. 2002 economic growth rate,当然两者间不可以用同一个it来指代。

这里为什么可以呢？请看原题，它比较的是同一个事物，在不同的年代。比较中心词没有不同，都是the rate of increase of the minority population of the United States。不过一个是在in the 1980's, 另一个in the 1970's。所以是时间的比较，可以it来指代同一个比较中心词。
