麦吉尔的Requirements On this page: Application deadlines | Application fee | Letters of reference | Transcripts | GMAT | TOEFL | Interviews | International students | Deferred admission
The program is designed for students with high achievement objectives and McGill is looking for applicants with strong indications of managerial potential. Admissions criteria are strict and decisions are based on many factors. Your undergraduate degree (minimum GPA 3.0) and any further academic qualifications are important indicators of intellectual ability; excellent performance is expected. All candidates must take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) in order to provide further information about managerial potential, in addition to the TOEFL, if applicable. Applicants must have a minimum of two years of relevant full time work experience after their undergraduate degree. The admissions committee will also be interested in your extracurricular pursuits, and letters of reference.
Application deadlines The application deadline for September admission is March 15. All applicants are advised to submit their application as early as possible. Admission decisions are usually rendered within six weeks upon receipt of a completed application with all supporting documents. However, due to the large volume of applications received, decisions on files completed on or near the deadline date of March 15, may be rendered in anywhere from eight to ten weeks.
The application deadline for January admission (part-time studies only) is October 1.
Application fee The application fee of $100.00, remitted in Canadian funds, must be submitted before an application can be processed. Applicants applying on-line are required to pay by credit card. Applicants are encouraged to apply on-line, however, those choosing the paper-based application may pay their fee by credit card, bank draft, international money order or certified cheque payable to McGill University. This fee is a processing fee and is non-refundable.
Letters of reference Candidates must request two letters of reference from individuals who have been directly responsible for evaluating their managerial performance and potential. These letters must be forwarded directly by the referee along with their business card. Transcripts Two official transcripts of marks from all universities attended are required. These must be forwarded directly by the issuing institution. McGill transcripts will be requested internally provided that the student number is indicated on the application form.
Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT)The minimum GMAT score required by McGill is 570. GMAT scores are to be forwarded to the MBA admissions office by Pearson Vue (institution code 58 H-MN-22).
For complete details on the GMAT, contact: http://www.mba.com
Test Of English As a Foreign Language (TOEFL)McGill requires a minimum score of 600 for the paper-based test, 250 for the computer-based test, or 100 for the Internet-based test. If you earned a Bachelor's degree outside Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand or the United Kingdom, or if you attended a four-year university program where the language of instruction is English but the university is located in a non-English speaking country, you are required to take the TOEFL.
Canadian citizens or applicants with at least three years landed immigrant status may request a TOEFL waiver. Applicants who are not Canadian citizens and whose mother tongue is not English may be asked to demonstrate an English language competency beyond the submission of the TOEFL score.
For registration materials, TOEFL Bulletin and information about the TOEFL, please visit: http://www.toefl.org The McGill ETS Institution code is: 0935, Department code 02
Interviews At the discretion of the MBA Admissions Committee, an interview may be requested to futher assess a candidate's credentials. Candidates will be notified by email if an interview is required.
International students Non-Canadian applicants who intend to study in Quebec must apply to two levels of government. The first is Immigration Québec, which issues the Certificate of Acceptance of Quebec (C.A.Q.). The second is the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, which issues the Student Authorisation. Depending on which part of the world you are applying from, it could take you as long as six months to complete the process. You should, therefore, start your application as soon as you receive your letter of acceptance from the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research. However, it is advisable that students contact the Canadian Embassy at least one year prior to the program starting date, as some countries require students to pass a medical examination.
Deferred admission A deferral of admission may be considered in exceptional cases upon evidence of extenuating circumstances for one year only. A written request should be submitted to the Assistant Director, MBA Admissions. If approved, students wishing to defer their admission will be required to submit a confirmation deposit of $1,000 to secure a place for the following year.
