考试一看到平行就很happy了,要是在题目出的靠后的话,就直接秒杀了,哪有时间考虑因果啊啊?

我认为应该是D,

A的表达在意思上说不通,应该为:
Researchers hypothesize that granitic soil is the ideal construction material for the desert tortoise because it is not so hard that it doesn't make burrowing difficult or so soft that it could not cause tunnels to collapse.

so...that...之后的东东应该是个"真"的结果.(忘了是在哪里看到过的,好像是这么个理.)

比较一下:He was not so unlucky that he passed the exam. 和 He was so lucky that he passed the exam.
这两句是一个意思, not so unlucky = so lucky

回到原题, not so hard = so soft, not so soft = so hard, 替换后再检查A,发现意思完全不对.

然而,D中as...as表示"...以至于",不要求其后结果为"真".
另外,在否定句中可以用as...as...,只是在肯定句中不能用so...as...
D的结构还是最平行的,舍其取谁?

E中的意思同样存在问题: 伴随状态"making..."应该与"not too hard"意思相同,
也就是说,应该为not too hard, making burrowing easy, ...

vote for E，之前看了半天发现没人讨论E，好在最后还是发现了有人支持E的，E从意思上是最简洁最无歧义的，前面的要不然就是不平行要不然就是短语不能用到否定结构中
