In one sense, Indians could be counted as non-asian. They have English Education all the way from elementary school so they speak English more fluently. However, most of them have THICKER accent, or accent at least as strong as students from East Asia.

rheabubi,  your background is solid...the last thing you should worry about is your g score.  try to contact the professors while you package your application.

stokowski,thank you so much! I don't worried about my speaking, since I am a teaching assistant and have to prepare tutorial classes for the undergraduate student. But I have to say I do have some acent...One fact may help me is toefl test. I think my speaking is much better than reading and listening.  I hope I can get 26+ in toefl test. But rather worry about the listening and reading parts.

One fact you never know is so called "portfolio" in the universities. They sometimes will not consider Asian applicants simply because their PhD proportion have enough students from Asian, including Indian. This is a strong reason for them kicking you out.

drmayniack, thanks for you courage. I may not send mails to the professors since my supervisor said "Tao Ci" will leave a bad image. I am not an aggressive person.

没有interview只有两种情况,要么你太牛,要么老板太shy, 不喜欢交流
