Hence another equally compelling example is that every year there are thousands of volunteers who abandon their comfortable life in cities and go to the most remote and poorest rural areas in China to help people living in there. For them, self-interest can never be the motivation.

     Finally, it is possible true that in certain conditions people are motivated by fears and self-interest. Even so, this case is not common, nor is sufficient to support the speaker's claim that there are essentially two forces that motivate people: self-interest and fear. In my assessment, other factors such as political beliefs and the spirit of dedication can more significantly representative the general situation. When the advantages and disadvantage of the speaker's claim and my opinion are carefully examined, the most striking condition is that many factors other than fears and self-interest are the essential forces to motivate people.
