hi, friends there I plan to appy the MBA program of 2008 at US business schools. I'm graduate with major of finance, and now a fixed income trader at a top IB. I would like to ask how I can differentiate myself from thousands of applicants worldwide with similar backgrounds, mainly by essays, GMAT or else? And how to balance my weakness since I will only have 2.5-year work experience by then. In addition, we would really appreciate if you could share your feelings and understandings about CBS from a perspective of insider, because usually we could only know the school from outside. Thanks very much! my msn is lihaoshall(A) hotmail.com happy to get contact! ********************************************************************************************************************************************************* Hi there,
I think you have asked the right questions but need to figure them out yourself, as both Yufengxing and I barely know you. :-) Please think through your strength and weakness, how differently you work, study, and communicate from others. Try to come out with your own ideas. As long as you are honest to yourself, you will find you are unique. 2.5- year w/e is fine with CBS admission officers. We have younger admits in Class of 08.
As insiders at CBS, I think both Yufengxing and I would say we love here, esp. I am graduating this May. I consider these two years great life experience that inspires my devotion to life and reveals more about myself. Like a slogan at Goldman, CBS is a place to "open minds up". No matter if you wanna enjoy life or aggressively progress in the two years, here we go with CBS. You would be excited about the choices we have here. It is most likely to complain about your busy schedule at every business school but CBS drives you to outperform enjoyably under pressure - maybe feel tired physically but never in mind.
CBS emphasizes finance and investment insights and entrepreneurial spirit, different from entrepreneurship at Stanford/HBS. This spirit addresses the passion to innovate, willingness to take risk, and great efforts to achieve in the end. Sophisticated skill sets would be introduced in class and at various events/speeches to bring the ladder to your dream. Both Yufengxing and I have posted in many threads about CBS's advantage and disadvantage, addressing the issues about location, career, curriculum and life at school. Simply by searching our usernames on this site, I believe you will find many clues.
Good luck with the application and look forward to seeing you at CBS community. Feel free to post questions in this thread. We'll do our best to help. Thank you.
