From last year it seems that for mainland China, CBS prefer women with diversified backgrounds and men with strong finance backgrounds. However this is just what I sensed. I cannot speak for the school.

I am Chinese in NYC. I got denied for Sept 2006 admission and decide to reapply for Sept 2007. For reapplication, CBS requires the improvement and "reiterate" the goal..... How can I "reiterate?" Just copy/paste last years, because my goals remain the same. And in feedback, it seems CBS has no problem with my goals. they only pointed out the lower GMAT, less community activities, and late application, which I already made progress in one way or another.

Could you give some guidlines or opinion for the reapplication essay? What is the chance to be admitted for reappicant, in your opinion?

Another question is what is the pool I belong to? in our Chinese pool (HK, Taiwan, Mainland, and Chinese here)? If that is the case, I will be disadvantaged due to my so-so GMAT.

Sorry I am not a reapplicant so can't offer any insights.

However, I know CBS likes reapplicants. Quite some of 2006 admits are reapplicants.
You are in NYC so you have a huge advantage over your Chinese peer applicants from mainland. A Chinese friend of mine, who applied from Canada, scored below 700 and still managed to get in.
