For me, second tier schools are those ranking 15-30 in the field. I don't care the college ranking, and those are trash. Additionally, the reputation of your potential advisor is much important than that of the school.

Some school such Yale ranks below 20 in finance .However ,can you say  Yale is second tier school? I think we should consider both college ranking and field ranking. Sometimes

college ranking is more important.
