答案是E,但是这个prevent的动作应该应该是由boundary发起的吧，使用现在分词会不会不妥呢？

这个题目狠明显的,考逻辑主语

主句,+分词...,后面半部分只能用来修饰主句的主语,表示伴随的状态.

只有少数情况表示用途,目的的时候例外,比如OG上那个盾牌的题目,protecting就是就是表示盾牌的用途

这里现显然,只能用ABE

再扫一眼,A不知道要不要用主动,但是有点拗口

B,一看就不对,having太离谱

只有E用了一个正确的词组. prevent sth from doing sth符合语感

E的逻辑意思错误，

声音在水里传的远，是由于prevented from BLABLA

E.  如果preventing做伴随状态，逻辑上说不通。 句子的意思是说，“声音能在水里传播很远”。后面半句想说为什么能够传播这么远，如果用伴随状态，就带有因果关系，“因为能够传播这么远，所以能够阻止能量消散”。

实际上句子是想说明声音能够传那么远的原因。D选项恰好用独立主格来表达了这个意思。独立主格本身相对独立，只是说明了发生在acoustic energe上的一个事实，这个事实恰好解释了前面的现象，from being dissipated 正确地使用了被动式。

看来A是比较接近的答案啊，虽然as the result of  wordy了一点。不过确实不能用Preventing，而改用了Prevented，Sound 确实不是prevent的施动者。难道这就是传说中的 过去分词引导的伴随状态？？
