Class of 2006 Full-Time MBA Graduate Employment Summary The Class of 2006 graduated into a robust economy with many companies, both global and regional, seeking MBA talent to tap the many market opportunities that exist, particularly as they relate to the China market. Unlike the previous year where nearly half of the survey respondents went into financial services after graduation, this year there was a more even distribution of industry sectors represented. A little over 25% of the respondents took up business and strategic planning positions in the manufacturing/industrial sector, while 25% took up consultant positions in various types of consulting firms, and 20% took up associate positions in investment banks and other financial services companies. Nearly 18% of the respondents were hired into general management trainee programs and 8% went into marketing roles. More than two-thirds (69%) of the survey respondents secured jobs in Hong Kong, 17% in Mainland China and the balance (14%) in other parts of Asia and Europe. Those working in Hong Kong reported an average salary of HK$481,000 per annum (US$62,000); those working in Mainland China reported an annual average salary of RMB 330,000 (US$41,000), and those working overseas reported annual earnings of more than US$72,000 (see Table II and III below for mean and median salaries vs. Y2005). Table IV below shows the proportion of respondents and the percent increase in salary after MBA studies. Among those reporting salary information, 72% of them made a career switch and 48% of them are working outside their home countries. Class of 2007 Full-Time MBA Summer Internships Summary Summer Internships continued to be an integral part of the MBA experience, with 96% of the First Year students finding opportunities that matched their career interest in leading global and regional companies. Approximately half of the class interned in financial services companies or in financial analyst roles, while about one-quarter interned in business development and strategic planning areas.
