D's mistake is "allows that," which means an action that doesn't match the idea of this context.

E's problem is "so that," which doesn't carry the original logical meaning of the context. It gives people the wrong idea that the turtle's design permits the attackers not to find its head. Further more, there shouldn't be a coma in front of "so that."

A better choice should be like the following:

The particular design of muscles and bones in the neck and limbs of the turtle
allows it to draw in its exposed parts, and so attacker can find nothing

PS，纠正一下MBZ，so that表结果状语从句，可以有逗号格开的；当然不格开也不错啦。

so that"因此，所以"，引导一个表示结果的状语从句，此时不能与in order that换用；从句中谓语根据需要使用相应的时态，主从句间可有逗号相隔。如：

　　She had not planned her time well,so that she did not finish her homework on time.她没把时间计划好，所以没按时完成家庭作业。

　　Wang Lang did not work hard enough,so that she is out of work when she is still young.王浪工作不够努力，因此，年轻时就失业了。

and so   is a phrase; so  is an adverb here.                       and so = and therefore.

我觉得flat可以提出来b,d..

there being, 首先there指示不明确，being冗余，所以只有B了。 and so也有因果关系。记得那个and, as well as比较么？A and B的其中一个意思就是 B is a consequence of A.我认为这里的so都是多余的，不过错误比D弱， 所以选最好的。

allow it (the turtle) to draw..., and so   is idiomatic.    allow  means "can do something". = permit and let.

allow that... would be correct if "allow" means ▶CORRECT/PERMITTED◀
(formal) to accept that something is correct or true, or that something is acceptable according to the rules or law
allow that
I allow that there may have been a mistake.
The judge allowed the evidence.

so that  means in order that , and those structures are used to talk about purpose.  逻辑上, and so is correct.   能缩回去不光就是为了an attacker can find nothing but hard shell to bite 把

Usually,there is no comma before so that.  E中的那个豆号有问题.

1.and so= and therefore 如果这样，那和so that再因果关系的连接上是否有一致之处？

2.坦率的讲，今天再次看到so that，我也认为不应该加逗号，但是我也查到不少so that前有逗号的，不知有没有明确的说法？
