at the beginning和in the beginning的区别：

1、at the beginning 常常跟of短语连用，如果后面没有跟of短语，则大都可以从上下文看出来。

at the beginning of可以指时间，也可以指位置。指时间时（着重于一点）意为“在……之初”，指位置时意为“在……开头”。

这个词不能用于句子的开头。

    This happened at the beginning of the year.

    This word can’t be used at the beginning of the sentence.

2、in the beginning仅指时间（着重于时间段），意为“起初、在初期”，相当于at first，其后较少接of短语，常用作状语。

   In the beginning she was not interested in swimming，but now she has become a good swimmer.

   He didn’t like it in the beginning.

3、应当注意，at the beginning 在单独使用时，有时与in the beginning 同义。

   He disliked it at / in the beginning.

可以的，日本的《现代英语语法例解手册》114页与770页各有注释：

同位语：补充名词、代词的意思。

补充代词的几个例子：

We went on a picnic, my mother, Alice, Meg, and I.

The hope of England lies in you young man.

We-that is to say John and I-intend to visit Ireland.
