they不是指“The ancient Anasazi”吗？从句意上理解好像是这样。但你提醒得好，代词有清晰的指代对象。“The ancient Anasazi”不知道单复数形式，也不知道可不可以用they指代。

另一个问题，是否-ed过去分词短语比用同位语从句简洁，所以即使指代清晰得话，还是优先用C？

同位语从句与ed的修饰意义应该是不一样的，ed的修饰关系比起同位语从句更紧密。

这个地方用they是不合适的。。
