pay的名词形式为payment，那么就不能用它的动名词形式，我记得og里和熏衣紫草的回帖中也说过的。

所以应该排除CDE，至于A和B我也搞不清楚主干是怎么回事了，有没有人给分析一下呢？

Me too confused....what's differnt between:

1. "while it proved" and "while proved"  (is it OK to omit "it" here?)

2. "but then it proved" and "but it then proved"  (but and while should be exchangable)

3."in payment to" and "in paying to" (any other differences in diction?)
